We find that a lot of people have extension leads in their homes, they can be using 4-way or even 6-way bar adaptors to increase the number of appliances that they can plug into a wall socket.
What we find is that, although there is space to plug in four appliances, additional cables or adaptors are often added to include additional appliance.
But.... this does not mean it is always safe to do so.
The words we often hear are - if electricity runs through it, then this will do it. However different electrical appliances use different amounts of power.
To avoid the risk of overheating and possibly a fire, you should never plug appliances into an extension lead or socket that use more than 13 amps or 3000 watts of energy combined.

Thank you for attending my “Emergency Call out” there was smoke coming out of my socket. I telephoned at least 15 electricians after 7:15pm (in the evening) when we discovered the smoke coming out of the Socket. Their phones not even being answered.
