However in September 2023, the UK said its goodbyes to fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs). This change was brought about by the EU Eco-design Directive, a significant step towards a more sustainable future.

The EU Eco-design Directive:

•  “Warm white” (similar to the warm orange glow of the traditional light bulbs we all know)  3000Kelvin / 3000K.
• Cool / Neutral white (the brighter light bulbs), which are used in Offices, Kitchens & Bathrooms, 4000Kelvin /4000K
• “Day light”, these tend to be the ones with a Blueish hint, 6500Kelvin 6500K, where like “Marmite” you either love them or hate them, and the choice of these is all down to your various applications around your home or business.
• Environmentally Friendly: LEDs are free from hazardous materials, making them safe for the environment.

• Disadvantages:

• Initial Cost: While LEDs save money in the long run, their upfront cost can be higher than traditional bulbs we have purchased in the past.
• Light Quality: Some Customers find the quality of LED light different from the warm glow of an incandescent.
