No Electricity or No Power

The power in your home has gone down!

Before calling out an emergency electrician, check with your neighbours or others in your street - you may find that their power has gone down too. This is because electricity is supplied to the street in 3x phases – don’t worry about this too much but you may find you may be on 1x of the phases, which has gone down, but a lot of your neighbours have still got electricity.

So it is just best to check not just your next door neighbours but a few houses down the street, and even across the street to, to ascertain have they got a power cut as well.

It may be the case that there has been a local power cut, and your local electricity distributor (UK power networks) otherwise known as UKPN.

UK Power Networks provide the cabling and power distribution to the majority of the UK, although you may be paying a separate electrical company for your electricity, they are the ones that supply the cabling, whether it is an overhead lines, or under the ground.

UK Power Networks emergency telephone numbers are:

0800 3163 105

Or 105

That telephone reception for UK Power Networks is based in Ipswich, where the telephone operators will talk calmly through with you as to what needs to be done, and to find out what the situation is.

Please give these people as much information as possible, as this will help and speed up the return of your electricity. Should there have been high winds and trees falling down, road blockages, or holes appearing in the ground nearby please do let them know.

For those customers around the Tunbridge Wells area, you will find it interesting to know that one of their gentlemen telephone operators originally came from Crowborough, so whilst they are organising an emergency team out to you, you might even be talking about Tunbridge Wells in Crowborough!

If you have a mobile device with internet access, you can track and report power cuts by post code at:

https://www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk/power-cut

Calls to UK power networks are free, and the callouts are free as well! (Apart from the obvious where you may have damaged a cable on your property coming into it, but the engineers will quickly find the issue and get the repair carried out).

We couldn’t single out any one person as they’re all great. Joe was very helpful today and made a lovely neat job of the work. We wouldn’t use any other company. Best wishes. Carolyn

The two guys from Bright Sparks arrived promptly as arranged. Took their outdoor boots off before making their way to the job - a nice touch . Efficient, pleasant; I could not have asked for more. When the invoice arrived I was also pleasantly surprised. Overall a good experience 10/10
