Fuse Selection

The correct fuse to use in an English plug is a crucial aspect of electrical safety. The fuse helps to protect the wiring of the plug and the appliance it is connected to by breaking the circuit if the current exceeds a safe level. Choosing the correct fuse for your appliance is important to ensure that it functions correctly and safely.

13 Amp Fuse - Bright Spark

In this Article  we are referring to 240V Electrical appliances

(230v is the same fuse Selection)

Fuse Selection

Safety First.

The correct size of fuse must be used for safety.

The correct size of a fuse is one that is equal to, or the next size up from the appliance rating, where the details can often be found out on the labels or stamped onto the appliance.

By using a smaller rated fuse this may cause, nuisance, tripping, and continuous replacement fuses.

A piece of equipment with a 6 amp rating, should actually have a 13 amp fuse, you cannot install a 3 amp fuse.

FACT

By changing the fuse size for a smaller one in your piece of equipment will not cause the equipment to use less electricity.

So, for example, if you had a 13 amp kettle with a 3 amp fuse on it, it will still need that 13amps.

The 3amp fuse will “BLOW” as soon as it is switched on

What is the difference between Watts & Amps

WATTS tell you how much power an appliance has – i.e. how much work it can do.

AMPS tell you what size fuse you need.

Watts are the “product of the Voltage and the Current (amps)

If we take the voltage away from the watts, we are left with the amps.

…. just to say how pleased I have been with the service we have received from Bright Sparks. I have arranged many quotes for work to the property over the past 3 years and your company has consistently returned my calls and emails in a timely way which is much appreciated. You have provided knowledgeable, friendly advice about the work that needed to be done and offered well priced quotes. The work has been completed quickly to a high standard. I'd definitely recommend you to others. Thank you.

Wendy, Broadwater Down

The guys did a great job yesterday – and were very accommodating too (putting things back in cupboards that they had to remove.) I gave them regular coffee / tea (and my wife made them a couple of Apple buns too) – and last night I gave them each a bottle of VERY good wine as a small thank you. GW - Hildenborough

I would highly recommend Karen and her team for any electrical jobs you have. From the moment I first emailed my enquiry the service was super quick (I appreciate this depends on their other jobs at the time). We received a quote that was clear with the works to be done and price was reasonable. On the day the electrician (Joe I believe) turned up on time, did a fab job and even tidied up after himself. The old ceiling lights we had were a little tricky to get off and pulled some of the plaster off too, but he filled it in and made it as good as new.Great job from beginning to end. Thank you Bright Spark

Karen and her team of electricians did a very good job in assessing our electrical circuits, modernising and upgrading our fuse boxes and ensuring compliance with the latest regulations. They were efficient and polite and, when they had finished the work, left the house tidy and in good condition

Robert, St Johns, Tunbridge Wells

Terry was very helpful, and everything has been fixed.
