Come to Life!
When moving to a new property, the majority of people have a building survey, or the simpler version eight mortgage survey. However, from these inspections by the surveyors they do not cover a more in-depth electrical survey.
When you have your heart set on a property, an electrical survey will give you the truth about the electrical system, it may be satisfactory, or there may be some small improvements to be made, it highlights faulty issues, or even worse a major electrical repairs and upgrades or even a rewire, this could affect your investment having stretched to the most you can for the property to find that a lot more work is involved in bringing your electrical system up-to-date.
Likewise, landlords are duty-bound now to have the electrical system inspected every five years, and they can be fined should the system not be inspected at the appropriate time.
At Bright Spark we carry out around 4 to 6 electrical inspections per week, our trusted team of trained and experienced electricians will visit the property to carry out the necessary electrical inspections and advise in the form of an EICR report.

Following the inspection should there be dangerous or non-regulatory issues discovered, a quotation for the Remedial works are provided, to bring the property up to date and to a safe standard.
So how much does any EICR cost? There is no set figure. It does vary according to the property, the construction, the location, and the age.
Please check our Typical Pricing for an EICR
At Bright Spark we ask every customer regarding costing, to provide photographs of the electrical consumer units/ fuse boards (all of them). We also ask for a photograph further away from the consumer units or fuse boxes, showing a photograph of the electrical meter and the black/grey box with a huge cable coming out of the ground, this does help us in forming our quotation. This also assists us in allocating the right amount of time for the electrical inspection to be carried out.

From here we can provide a quotation for carrying out the inspection.
When visiting a new property with the opportunity to purchase, always ask to see the fuse box or consumer unit and take a photograph, much like you are taking photographs around the rest of the property so you can remember what you have seen at the time of your first visit.

Thank you for sending us Phil to restore light to all corners of our home. Most agreeable and efficient gentleman who didn't flinch visibly at the dusty mysterious corners where ancient wires lay in ceiling space and appliances wired from the dark ages.

Karen and her team of electricians did a very good job in assessing our electrical circuits, modernising and upgrading our fuse boxes and ensuring compliance with the latest regulations. They were efficient and polite and, when they had finished the work, left the house tidy and in good condition
