There are a number of electric car chargers available.
From slow charge, fast charge and rapid charge.
They have different connectors and the rates of charge.
All three of the charging methods will top up your car with power however the way they do so differs, which in turn means the speed as to which they recharge your vehicles batteries.
If you are caught short when driving around there are charging stations available where for a charge (money) you may be able to charge your vehicle. There are also other places where you can charge your vehicle up for free, such as supermarket carparks et cetera.
The best way however to charge your vehicle is either at work using their electric charging point, for if you have an electric charging point at your home.
When purchasing an electric car, you will be supplied with a three pin plug and extension cable, which will draw alternating-current (AC) to charge up your vehicle which will have a built-in converter to turn the AC to direct current (DC). This you will find is a slow method of charging, and many customers have to charge overnight to get the full charge of the battery in the vehicle.
A dedicated home charging unit, which is installed at your house, will provide a faster means of charging, it is best to have this as a Homesmart charging unit where you can set up the charging to be carried out in the off-peak hours reducing the cost of your electric charging to your vehicle.
