Common Electrical Problems

Common Domestic Electrical Problems

Electricity Tripping Out

Do not make the mistake of constantly resetting your circuit breakers; our electrical engineers are experts in fault finding and diagnosis. If a circuit often trips it could be the sign of faulty wiring or accessory (socket or switch) or even an issue with an appliance that may be causing a fault on the circuit.

Flickering Lights and Blown Bulbs

Flickering lights can be a sign of faulty wiring or loose connection issues. Do your lamps repeatedly blow? We find that the most common cause for this is as a result of using cheap supermarket lamps.  Karen & her electricians always use quality lamps from a branded manufacturer.

Light Switches or Sockets That Give a Small Electric Shock

If you receive a shock of any size from metal switches or sockets then call us immediately. It may be a sign of serious earthing issues.

Sparking Sockets or Switches

If you ever notice a spark when switching on a switch or a socket then it may be an early sign of a worn socket or switch (accessory) and if left unchecked can lead to an electric shock or even become a fire hazard.

Smell of Burning

A burning smell could be a sign of the start of an electrical fire. In the instance that an electrical accessory starts to overheat it will give off a distinctive and slightly fishy smell. If you ever think you might have an issue and can smell burning we cannot emphasise enough how important it is to switch off your electrics at the consumer unit and contact Bright Spark immediately..

Outdated Electrics

Several homes in Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding Kent and Sussex area were built over 100 years ago. Bearing this in mind, many of the electrics that come with the properties will be decades old. Due to these electrics being outdated, often a full rewire of the house will be necessary and replacement sockets may also be vital in order to ensure safety in the properties.

Just to say a big thank you for the work that your electrician carried out at my mothers house. He was very professional and a clean worker and the finished job was a complete success. It is very comforting to know that when a tradesperson attends the property of a elderly customer that they feel safe and happy. Once again, Thanks Keith
